　スポーツライターの増島みどりさん（The Stadium主宰）に初めてお会いしたのは、96年アトランタオリンピックに出場後、約2年のブランクを経て復帰し、99年1月の福岡国際で優勝した際の取材だったと記憶しています。その後、99年10月バーミンガム世界選手権大会で優勝、2000年シドニーオリンピックで銀メダルを獲得した後、2002年4月、正式に選手から指導者として活動していくことを表明しました。
　
　2003年9月から約一年間、米国ネブラスカ州オマハでJOC在外研修員として指導者のための研修を行い、2005年9月より米国コロラド州ボルダーへ移住し、現在は主人（兼司）と愛犬（凛）と一緒に生活しています。
以前にも2回ほど増島さんのHPに私のエッセイを紹介していただきましたが、今回からは自身のブログで柔道指導を通じて奮闘している様子をご紹介していきたいと思っています。

I met Ms. Midori Masujima, who interviewed me as a freelance sports writer, after I won in the Fukuoka International Judo Tournament in January, 1999.I came back as a judo competitor two years after the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996.I won in the World Judo Championships in October, 1999, and received a gold medal.I also received a silver medal in the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.In April, 2002, I made a public announcement that I was quitting judo as a competitor to teach judo as a coach.Then I went to Omaha, Nebraska to teach judo as a judo coaching trainee from September, 2003 for one year.My husband, Kenji, and I have been living in Boulder because of his study for almost two years.
　
Ms. Masujima introduced my essays twice on her Website but from now on I’m going to tell my opinions and thoughts to you in my own Blog with her help. I will translate my Japanese essays into English so that all judo fans can read them. I hope you have fun through my essays and I want to share my experience with you.
